COMMUNITY & EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES

NATD Education is an evolving initiative. We are excited to be introducing and organising a series of initiatives and projects across the regions the NATD are currently working in. Our work is focusing on outreach work into schools and community projects to support dance in and out of schools. To support and promote our work we have a dedicated member of staff in our NATD head office.

Our unique aim as a dance organisation is to create more unity and collaboration between education and specialist dance teachers. The projects and initiatives below are some of the ways we are designing opportunities to strengthen links between dance education and the wider dance community. We are generating new partnerships and relationships, as well as championing our current successful connections.

LEVEL 3 Certificate for Dance Teaching Assistant

The NATD Level 3 Certificate for Dance Teaching Assistant aims to equip candidates with the essential knowledge and skills needed to work as dance teaching assistants. It focuses on safe dance practice, developing supportive classroom environments, and enhancing observation and reflective skills. This qualification is ideal for those preparing to support dance teachers in various educational settings.

LEVEL 4
Teaching Diploma

The NATD Level 4 Diploma in Teaching Dance is available in all dance genres, including Musical Theatre. It is designed for NATD members holding an Associate or 4B Extraordinary Membership and is open to new members. This diploma enhances professional teaching skills at a level comparable to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It offers broad recognition across the dance sector and beyond, while the Associate qualification is more genre-specific.

HIGHER EDUCATION

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR UNIVERSITIES & COLLEGES TO SUPPORT DANCE GRADUATES

We are continually developing links with universities and colleges to support their students as they move from education into the world of dance. We can offer students and graduates opportunities and ways to support their income between performing/choreographing and working in the field of dance.

If you would like to develop a link between your educational establishment and the NATD, or find out more about how we support graduates as they move into work, please email us here
