Calling all members of the NATD……….particularly those of the London Area Theatrical!!!!
Your London Area Theatrical Committee are delighted to announce
a programme for your AGM and Autumn Meeting to be held at
The Lawrence Weaver Hall, Green Lane, Morden, Surrey SM4 5NN
on Sunday 9th October
We assemble at 9.30 am as usual…….coffee and biscuits available, then start at 10.00 with a Ballet class taken by James Groom. James trained initially at Talents Theatre School with Hazel Ellesse. He holds a BA (Hons) in Ballet Education from the RAD and is an experienced teacher and performer. We are sure we will have a wonderful class to begin the day.
After a break for coffee Stuart Winter will be joining us once more. Stuart lectured at Congress this year taking a Ballet class—-the reception he received was incredible with so many members singing his praises. He also spent a lot of time with people afterwards which was much appreciated. Stuart returns to take a Contemporary class which will be I know outstanding. He has many credits to his name …just Google Stuart Winter dancer to find out more……you won’t be disappointed!!!
12.15 pm sees the time for our AGM which we hope you will all support followed by lunch until 1.15pm
It is then that the day takes on a slightly different flavour!!! Examiners of the NATD were privileged during the Congress to have an insight into what will be a completely new Street Dance syllabus. Various comments were heard “I don’t teach Street “ “ I can’t do Street”
“Streets not for me“ “At my age!!!!“ but how wrong everybody was!!! Jemma Prescott took the most amazing class…..she is firmly of the opinion that Street is for everyone and certainly proved it!! She was a ball of energy and enthusiasm that transmitted itself to both participants and spectators. Her teaching technique was logical and easy to follow with all the moves broken down and then built upon so even the spectators were joining in! She proved too that any sort of music can be used for Street, and it was not all “Rapping“ as is so often the perception. The age range too, on the floor was completely varied again illustrating that Street is for all. With this in mind Jemma will be with us to take a class….not only for our members and students but for your adult dancers too…..they are invited for the afternoon, to come and have fun….we can guarantee that you and they will not stop smiling!!!!
So that your Adults and yourselves get the whole experience, so to speak, what better than to finish the day with a tap class suitable for adults, members and students alike……Ann Blythe will, starting at 2.30 pm, take a class that will get everyone up and tapping!!!
The cost for the full day for Members and Students is £25, for any adults joining for the afternoon it will be £10
Please, please do come and join us…..each time a programme is arranged your Area Committee hope that it will appeal to yourselves, and you will feel motivated to come…….despite some of us being “Old hands at the job”………you are never too old to learn a few new tricks!!!!!
Do please call 07803038049 if you would like any further details and we look forward to seeing you on the 9th!
Just a couple of requests……would it be possible for attendees to pay by cash and also there is going to be a resending of the details of the Eileen Meacock award. It is not too late to send in entries for this and your Area Committee would very much like to present this after being prevented from doing so for two years due to the pandemic.
